Dear Houston Northwest Community,
B Thomason Head Shot
It is so good to see so many of you returning from summer trips! We have had record attendance at our recent events thanks to you and your enthusiastic commitment.

Leadership is an important theme this fall. The Chamber's Young Professionals are hosting a Power Conference that is designed to enhance their leadership skills and make new connections. Also, it is time to select new Chamber Board members (see below). Committee leadership is also needed and it is a good time to indicate your interest.

The September 13th Membership Luncheon at Raveneaux Country Club is almost full and we will be closing off registration by Monday. Of course, no walk-ins will be allowed due to space limitations.

Homeaid Houston Cares

Wednesday, August 29, Homeaid Houston and contest winner Kristina Urban presented the key of the Minute Maid Playhouse to Mikey Moore.  Mikey is a 14 year old die-hard Astros fan. He is a five year veteran of the Astros Buddy Program and he plays Little League Challengers Baseball. Kristina was touched by Mikey's enthusiasm for baseball, his love of the Astros and the fact that he's tried for the past 5 years to win the playhouse. As a matter of fact, on the day of the drawing, Mikey told his mom that the playhouse had his name on it.  Little did he know that it actually did!

Even though Mikey's family knew the Playhouse was being donated to Mikey, they decided to wait until last night to tell Mikey he had won.  He was extremely happy to hear the news and can't wait until the Playhouse is delivered to his home and he can play inside! Salty Thomason of Pella Windows & Doors chaired the Playhouse Project, is on the Board of Homeaid Houston and is a  member of the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce.

  1. Concerts often require live event support with professional audio equipment. Before recorded music, concerts would provide the only opportunity one would generally have to hear musicians play.
